3 Car Maintenance Procedures You Don’t Need

A blonde pushes her BMW into a gas station. She tells the mechanic, “It died.” After he works on it for a few minutes, it’s idling smoothly. She says, “What’s the story?” He replies, “Just crap in the carburetor.” She says, “How often do I have to do that?”

Believe it or not, there are some car maintenance procedures that aren’t really necessary. Common sense should tell you what your car really needs, but there are some car maintenance items that only seem necessary. Let’s look at a few of them now…

 Engine Flush

engine sludge Car Maintenance ProceduresTo most people, cleaning out all of the sludge and dirt that’s built up inside your engine sounds pretty good. But if you’ve kept the engine maintained properly (IE. regular oil changes and tuneups), an engine flush is a waste of money because all of that ‘sludge’ won’t have a chance to build up in the first place. Granted, there are some engines that naturally build up sludge deposits due to their design, and the car maintenance procedures require an engine flush  as the miles rack up. If you’re unsure, Google your engine type and see what others say in the owner forums.

Sludge typically occurs when heat and friction cause the motor oil to break down, leaving behind grimy deposits. When an engine ages, the internal friction worsens as the surface imperfections of the metal become more pronounced. Adding CleanBoost EMT at your next oil change will reduce that friction by smoothing those surface imperfections with special deactivators that bond with the metal itself. This coating penetrates 2-4 microns into the metal, providing a smooth surface for the parts to slide against. With less internal friction, the oil won’t have to contend with as much heat, which will allow it to last longer and leave almost no sludge behind.

Fuel Injection Cleaning

As gas or diesel circulates through your fuel system, the chemical additives in the fuel leave behind deposits that eventually turn into corrosion and ‘varnish’. This restricts the flow through your injectors, which can cause a rough-running engine and poor fuel economy. But instead of dumping hundreds of dollars at the repair shop for what they call “car maintenance procedures” , you can fix the problem, than prevent it from happening again with CleanBoost Maxx.

Unlike those cheap fuel additives that you find at a gas station, CleanBoost Maxx is a fuel catalyst that actually changes the chemistry of the fuel, allowing the engine to burn off those excess chemicals during the combustion cycle. The lubricants and emulsifiers then prevent new corrosion and varnish from forming, which keeps your fuel system running efficiently.

Transmission Flush

transmission fluids Car Maintenance ProceduresLike it or not, an (automatic) transmission service is required about every 30,000-50,000 miles. Similar to your engine, the transmission uses (hydraulic) oil and a filter, which needs to be changed periodically. But if you want to keep your tranny from slipping gears, add a quality transmission conditioner, available at your local auto parts store. This way your car maintenance procedures costs will be kept at a minimum and it will also keep the valve body working smooth, and prevent internal friction for trouble-free gear changes.
